This unique carving is created in an ancient rib bone and mounted on a fossil walrus jawbone both aged at over 700 years.

I wanted to retain the natural unpolished beauty of the weathered bone and tell the story of the native species that still exist today in this northern wilderness. So many are threatened by the changing climate and over hunting including the right whale, narwhale, polar bear, arctic fox and others. Details in this carving invite the viewer to look closely and discover the deeper layers of the bone structure. Birds flying, an arctic hare, ptarmigan, raven, the moon and sun, clouds and a life-giving river that all weave their way throughout the scene and create a sense of the interconnection of all things.
